It would be easy for me, were I self-made millionaire, to tell you how to get rich and be abundant. It’s another coming from a web developer in a cubicle on the path to getting there. As I am acting on all inspiration at the moment, the current inspiration is to face some numbers. That is the traffic numbers for my website. Let’s face them together right now.

So what do you see? Average. Not my very best. It’s easy to be average. Just put up a website and write a few things. Tell a few people about it and ta-da, you get 30 to 50 visitors a day (maybe even with a few spikes close to 100 like I had). If we’re going to really get some higher learning done, then we must first and foremost give our very best and then fully accept the results and potential responsibility that follow.

The goal here is to see what my VERY BEST will lead to for the rest of the year. And website traffic is a good hard concrete way to measure success. I’ll do some comparison graphs at the end of the year to see the result. This isn’t the only thing I’m doing my very best in. My job as a web developer (and new scrum master), and my family life are the other two areas I am working on doing my best in.

How will I do my best? I will focus on creating articles and videos that I believe offer the best value I can bring. This means not submitting an article until I believe it is my very best. It means not submitting a video until it is my very best. It means learning how to market myself the best I can. Where will this lead? To a result I will accept. If 50 website visitors a day is the absolute best I can do when I have nothing left, I am happy with that. Let’s see where the road leads then, shall we? :)

  1. I like that spike to 100, what happened there do you recall?

Sam, interesting enough, that happened right after I did a presentation to a college class, and they were rewarded for extra credit after going to one of my pages and filling in some questions…

Your words here really mirror where I’ve been lately. I was just hitting a point of frustration re: my traffic (seemed caught in the rut of 50 average per day) when just three days ago hit a tad over 100! Traffic has remained just under 100 & I’m hoping this means I’m turning a corner…time will tell! Kind of interested that what seemed to cause this spike in traffic was a debate of sorts I engaged in with someone who is apparently a channel for a saint! lol..not quite sure what THAT tells me! I do know that the posts I made on that subject felt like a joy to create!

Anyway Jeremy, I can very much relate to the feeling of doing my absolute best while not necessarily seeing immediate results of that very real effort. I think the trick is to try and enjoy the process thereby ensuring that rewards are built into the process and hard work itself.

I get the sense you’re right on the brink of a spike that’ll stick! You have an amazing site here and always provide truly great content…at some point that WILL be rewarded by increased traffic!

    Keep writing these great articles!

Hi Faye, that’s interesting you’ve been thinking about this as well. But the fact that you even have a website with inspirational messages sets you apart. Give yourself a pat on the back for that, to start with!

100 visitors. That is awesome. It really is about doing what we are most passionate about and what gives us the most joy. I can see from your tone you are doing just that.

Your advice rings true – to enjoy the process. Many times I focus so much on the result that I forget how much I love people and seeing them grow and learn.

Thanks for a brief-mini psychic reading at the end too! :)
