Book Review and GIVEAWAY: What To Say When You Talk To Yourself
The WINNER has been announced :)
Are you a crazy person that talks to yourself? You’re playing a game and make an error while blurting out, “That was sooooo stupid! I can’t believe I did that!” You’re on date, making a fool of yourself, and thinking, “Oh my gosh, what am I thinking?” What about at work? You just found out from someone that you are the cause of a big problem. Your heart skips a beat and you think, “Oh crap, what did I do this time?” Sometimes we don’t even realize the reactions and way we communiate with ourselves. Believe me, I know, I was the King of instantly bashing myself. I still do sometimes even after having worked on it for a couple years now.
Book information
There’s a really great book out there that got me on the path to picturing myself in a better way. It’s not a magical cure that will just make you superhuman and able to leap tall buildings. But it will give you perspective and help you examine the way you communicate with yourself. The advantage to that is you can correct ‘programming’ that may be limiting you. I know it is crazy to think that we program ourselves – much like a computer is programmed to accomplish something. I thought that too – at first, but there really is a method to programming the human mind.
The book is called, “What To Say When You Talk To Yourself” by Shad Helmstetter. I am a fan of this book. I’ve mentioned it before several times already. It was the kick in the butt several years ago that put me on the path I am on now today. It helps me realize the negative programming I do to myself. Think about it – a computer does exactly what you tell it to – and no more. The book talks about the human mind. The mind starts doing exactly what we tell it to, which translates into what we do with our lives. If we tell the mind we are dumb, stupid, and incompetent, that is what we will output. If we tell it that we are awesome, smart, and capable, that is what we will begin to output.
